Our Cattle

Cows

The white cows are Ancient White Parks, a rare British breed that existed as semi-feral cattle since before the time of Christ.  A starter herd was purchased from Seed Savers' Exchange in Decorah, Iowa.  The herd has some other heritage breeds including Corrientes, Galloways, Murray Grays, Scottish Highlands and Angus.  We are developing a locally adapted composite breed.

Bulls

Bulls are maintained for natural service breeding.  The cows calve once a year; the gestation period is a little more than nine months.  Breeding starts in August for calves starting in May.
